WHO WE ARE

Focusing on dishes crafted with Japanese and Thai ingredients, as well as premium sake and sake cocktails, Saucy Oakland is a fun and creatively driven project put together by locals Tony and Jenni in the fall of 2015. They've partnered up their passion for food to deliver their take on a fun concept that focuses on friends mingling over great food.

WHERE WE’VE BEEN

Saucy has been a catering company hosting pop-ups, private tastings, and events. The goal was to introduce dishes that have been refined and tested over and over again in their test kitchen. Successful menu items from these pop-ups will make their way into future menus.

OWNERS

Tony is owner/chef with a culinary background in French and Japanese cuisine. He has over the years crafted the dishes you’ll see on our menu. Jenni is owner/marketing & financial manager who has a background in management and marketing.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

It all started from a fifteen page business plan with just our names on the front page. We had this idea to make home made sauces, which led us to putting together maybe twenty sauces. We gathered some friends, fried up a bunch of store bought frozen foods, and dipped away! It was a good idea and we ran with it for a bit, but it was the name that stuck.

“Saucy” - the name has substance and it has attitude, just like us.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

By providing the best in quality products and services, Saucy aims to be a profitable company that encourages sustainability, leadership, and a sense of community.

Our dream is to be able to give back to various local non-profits.

CURRENT UPDATE

Saucy Restaurant has relocated from Telegraph Ave in Oakland to 8th St. in Old Oakland as of April 2022. We currently offer reservations and walk-ins for dine-in, pickup/delivery through our online ordering system, as well as pre-arranged private dining.

GIVING BACK - SCHEDULE A 1-HR PHOTO/VIDEO SHOOT

According to studies, brands should be posting 1-2 times per day on Facebook, 2-3 times per day on Instagram, and 5-10 times per day on TikTok in order to be *seen*. As a small business owner, we understand how challenging it can be to do practically everything on your own and still feel like you can't stay above the curve. Most small business owners just don't have the time to make creative marketing content.

It's Simple! Schedule a 1-hr time slot on my calendar. Prior to the scheduled shoot, I'll connect with you to get everything ready for the shoot. Once completed, I'll edit and send over the photos and videos. If time and creativity permits, I may also include a Reel. In addition, I'll include best practices for utilizing the content.

First Tasting

MAY 22nd, 2016 | OAKLAND, CA

Chefs, restaurant owners, restaurant workers, and bloggers get a first look and taste of Saucy Oakland's menu. Held on a late spring day in a beautiful home overlooking Oakland's luscious hills, our friends were asked to provide professional feedback on taste and execution. The tasting menu included a Hamachi Yuzu Avocado dip with a crispy taro chip, a pork belly steamed bad with black bean sauce, Thai corndog, zesty soy chicken wing, fried soft-boiled egg, soy marinated beef braised ribs, and a flourless chocolate cake.
